This winter transfer market is typically a time of significant speculation and potential major transfers. A number of high-profile stars are being linked with transfers away from their present clubs. We examine some of the major names that could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. Recent developments indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous move to Anfield collapsing. As his deal due to expire in the close season, January is the club's final opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. A host of elite clubs, including City and several continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January departure remains unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

This Welsh winger has had first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Although finishing as the club's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has begun just a small number of league matches. It is understood the North London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right price, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

The Portuguese playmaker could be set for a return to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

The veteran Germany shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barça under the manager Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter exit seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a possible destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The proven English striker has kept scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of being in the England World Cup. The Turin club are eager to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but face a race to retain one of the continent's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

The much-admired Netherlands midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ first team. The teenager is widely tipped to make a major move this month. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
